Indie Art & Craft Community
I built community for independent artists and crafters in Norfolk and Charlottesville, Virginia from 2003-2014, where I co-founded the Norfolk Craft Mafia and Craft Cville groups.
Both these communities were collaborate efforts and we hosted skillshares, supply swaps, social crafting circles, juried craft markets, networking events, and more.
Norfolk Craft Mafia’s Handmade Parade was a juried craft market that drew over 50 vendors from the US and Canada, and over 1,000 people attended the event in Norfolk, Virginia in 2007.
Craft Cville hosted the cornerstone weekend event (picnic day in Lee Park) at the 2014 Tom Tom Founders Festival in Charlottesville, Virginia. We had live music, an outdoor craft market, craft demos for kids, a beer tent, live bands, and more, with several thousand people in attendance.
These craft communities were featured in many local publications, blogs, and news broadcasts. We had so much fun!
